INTRODUCING BURNUP CREDIT FOR EXPANSION STAGE 2 OF THE EXTERNAL SPENT FUEL POOL AT GÖSGEN NPP

چکیده

We present a summary of the actinide-plus-fission-product burnup credit criticality safety licensing analysis for Expansion Stage 2 (ES2) external spent fuel pool at Gösgen nuclear power plant. In ES2, nine 1 storage racks currently installed in are going to be supplemented by ES2 with significantly reduced assembly pitch. They designed loadings assemblies above well-defined minimum required burnup. The objective is calculate values uranium and MOX stored racks. use methodology that allows us take into account reactivity effects due variabilities uncertainties all relevant parameters involved assessment bounding manner. These include manufacturing tolerances racks, irradiation histories profiles assemblies, bias depletion code used isotopic inventories irradiated fuel, neutron multiplication factor considered configuration. A combination different statistical procedures evaluate propagate uncertainty information on input translate it confidence statements about factor. It should noted presented related first implementation significant wet PWR Switzerland.

Thermal assessment of new Ignalina NPP casks for spent nuclear fuel storage at some abnormal conditions

For interim storage of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) at the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP), the so-called “dry” storage technology has been chosen. In this case, SNF after a cooling (pre-storage) period in water pools (no less than 5 years) is placed into GNS (Germany) manufactured metal CASTOR ® RBMK-1500 or reinforced concrete CONSTOR ® RBMK-1500 casks and may be stored for at least 50 years ...

Spent Fuel Pool Human Reliability Analysis (HRA), Draft for Comment

One of the key issues that has emerged in performing a probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) for the spent fuel pool during the decommissioning phase of a nuclear power plant's lifecycle is how much credit can be given to the operating staff to respond to an incident that impacts the spent fuel pool that would, if not attended to, lead to a loss of cooling of the spent fuel and eventually to a zi...

Determination of the Transuranic Elements Inventory in High Burnup Pwr Spent Fuel Samples by Alpha Spectrometry

Determination of transuranic elements such as U, Pu, Np, Am and Cm in spent nuclear fuels is of importance for a fuel characterization, evaluation of a burnup credit, and burnup determination of spent nuclear fuels. Additionally, the exact amount of the actinide elements, as the major elements of a source term, of the spent nuclear fuels is also used for a code verification that predicts the am...

The Model Establishment and Analysis of TRACE/FRAPTRAN for Chinshan Nuclear Power Plant Spent Fuel Pool

Abstract—TRACE is developed by U.S. NRC for the nuclear power plants (NPPs) safety analysis. We focus on the establishment and application of TRACE/FRAPTRAN/SNAP models for Chinshan NPP (BWR/4) spent fuel pool in this research. The geometry is 12.17 m × 7.87 m × 11.61 m for the spent fuel pool. In this study, there are three TRACE/SNAP models: one-channel, two-channel, and multi-channel TRACE/S...
